What is a Pediatrician/Pediatric NP?

A Pediatrician is a medical doctor, who has attended medical school and completed a pediatric residency specialized in the treatment of children. A Pediatric NP is an advanced practice nurse with a master’s degree specializing in the treatment of children. Both Pediatricians and Pediatric NPs are uniquely trained in the treatment of infants, children, and teens and are certified by their respective governing board to perform pediatric care. Our providers treat both acutely and chronically ill children as well as do preventative well-child annual exams and sports physicals. They educate parents and children on healthy lifestyle, growth and development, safety, and emotional wellness to foster lifelong healthy habits.

Can I meet my Pediatric provider before my baby is born?

Yes, we strongly encourage parents to visit our office for a “new patient meet and greet” with the provider they are interested in for their child. During this time providers spend time introducing themselves, answering any questions parents may have, and establishing a therapeutic relationship so that new parents can feel at ease bringing their newborn for his/her first visit.

How often should my child see their Pediatric provider?
Regular visits, aside from illness and injury, with your child’s pediatric provider are an important part of tracking healthy mental and physical development. At well-visits Pediatric providers track growth, development, provide screenings, and immunizations — all important components of assuring your child’s health via preventative care.
The American Academy of pediatrics and our office recommend the following well-visit schedule:
  • 3-5 days
  • 2 weeks
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
…and once annually thereafter until graduation from high school or age 19 years old.
Is your office accepting new patients?

Yes, the office is accepting patients for Dr. Sarah Bryant and Diana Hocker, PNP.

What if I just need medical advice for my child but not an appointment?

Calling our office for medical concerns is absolutely encouraged! Our staff is always available during office hours to take detailed messages regarding your concerns and your call will be returned same-day by either one of our medical assistants or Pediatric providers.

Do you provide school or sports physicals?

Yes, sports physicals are a part of our recommended annual well child visit. All sports or school forms can be completed at your well visit or may be filled out at our office as long as your child’s well visit was within the last year.

Our exam rooms each have a theme ranging from underwater to dinosaurs to penguins. Each room is filled with toys, puzzles, books, and magazines. With each well-visit from ages newborn – 5 years, our patients receive an age appropriate book to take home as a part of the Reach Out and Read Program. Our warm and friendly staff as well as small office size create an inviting atmosphere and aim to ease the stress of medical visits.

How do I get prescription refills?

To refill a prescription, please call our office during open hours at 719-583-2330. It is always best to call your preferred pharmacy to ensure no refills remain on the medication needed. What if my child needs specialty care?

Our Pediatric providers are specialists in the care of common childhood illnesses and injuries. Sometimes, your child may require more detailed evaluation by a specialist to address their condition. You and your Pediatric provider will make this decision together based on your child’s medical needs. Our office will initiate a referral to a specialty office using your insurance network and location preferences.
